2009 Race for Justice
Challenge Info

Best Fundraising Team: The Bronze Sneaker Travelling Trophy is awarded to the team who raises the most money in pledges and registration fees overall. "Travelling" is actually a misnomer, as the trophy has been awarded to the Prevailing Parties since its inception in 2006.

Does any team have what it takes to beat the Prevailing Parties? Or will Chris Rounds, Chris Kent, Leslie Johnson, Jim Knoll, Alan McCollom, Catherine Allen and team take the grand prize again?

Largest Team: Awarded to the team with the most registered participants. To be counted, members must be present at the Race. Adults in the 5K and children in the Fun Run will be added to the total; dogs are disqualified. The winner takes the Coveted Bronze Sneaker Travelling Trophy to display in yor office!
Stahancyk, Kent, Johnson & Hook took the Sneaker with 33 teammates in 2008, stealing the title from 2-time winner Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf (2006 & 2007). Check the leaderboard for daily updates.

The Markowitz Challenge: Bragging rights are on the line! Firms in three size divisions will compete to win a wine and cheese party catered by the partners at Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf. The teams with the most money per-attorney-capita will win in the following categories:
  • Small, 1-5 attorneys (Robert Neuberger 2006, 2007, 2008)
  • Medium, 6-25 attorneys (Prevailing Parties 2006, 2007, 2008)
  • Large, 26+ attorneys (Ball Janik 2006, 2007, 2008)
Who will win the most sought-after wine and cheese party in town? Stay tuned!
Thank you to the attorneys and staff at Markowitz, Herbold, Glade & Mehlhaf for providing this wonderful incentive!

The Coulter Cup Family Law Challenge: Charlie Coulter was a former SALC attorney, a dedicated volunteer and a kind friend to all who crossed his path. In his memory, we present the Coulter Cup Family Law Challenge. The family law team who raises the most money per-attorney-and-assistant-capita wins the Coulter Cup and a private dinner for eight, catered by Jack Lundeen.

The Workers' Comp-etition: The attorneys at Reinisch Mackenzie, PC have concocted a new and fabulous challenge for this year's Race! Radler Bohy Replogle, Reinisch Mackenzie, Sather Byerly Holloway, & Wallace, Klor & Mann are competing for some serious bragging rights! The winners will be determined in two categories: largest team and best fundraising team overall. May the best team win!

Top Staff Fundraiser: Awarded to the current attorney or staff member at SALC who raises the most money. The winner is awarded a pizza party for her/his branch. Brenda Miller is the reigning champ with over $2000 raised in 2008...can Patti Hansen, Marcus Shirzad or Courtney Dunleavy take her title?!

Volunteer of the Year: Awarded to night clinic volunteer attorneys at the three branch offices for their devoted service to St. Andrew Legal Clinic. We couldn't do it without you!

And for those real runners out there, prizes will be awarded to the First and Second Place Finishers in the Male and Female Divisions. Thank you to Foot Traffic for donating these prizes!

Funds raised at this event directly help low-income families in Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas and Columbia counties receive legal representation. Your participation in this event allows SALC to provide security for children, support to women in crisis, and justice for the working poor.
