SALC is able to achieve positive results for families in-need because of hundreds of compassionate volunteers who make this work possible. Volunteers are essential, and help keep SALC rates low for our clients. Night Clinic:
 Virtually all client intake is managed through Night Clinic. SALC currently has a pool of over 100 volunteers including lawyers and receptionists sessions at all three branch offices who staff night clinic. However, there is an ongoing need for volunteer attorneys, practicing in any area of the law, to conduct client intakes (training is available) as well as non-attorneys who would like to volunteer at night clinic reception.

Night Clinic is generally held every Wednesday night but varies at each office location. Volunteers meet with clients from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Most volunteers actively participate one or two nights each month. This system allows the staff attorneys time to work on active cases during the day. Office support: Volunteers familiar office equipment and administrative tasks are always welcome at the Clinic’s main branch on Alberta Street in Portland. Preparation and planning for special fund raising events and direct mail appeals is an all-hands on deck proposition, and we always grateful for cheerful, energetic volunteers who can help out with the details.
