Night Clinic

Welcome to the Night Clinic at St. Andrew Legal Clinic

About Night Clinic: For decades, the Night Clinic has been a vital community resource, providing individuals with a unique opportunity to receive 30 minutes of legal assistance from compassionate volunteer attorneys. We understand that facing family law issues can be overwhelming, especially for those with limited financial resources. Our initiative aims to bridge the justice gap, ensuring that everyone has access to legal guidance and support, regardless of their financial constraints.

Why Night Clinic Matters: In Oregon, a staggering 80% of individuals dealing with family law matters cannot afford legal representation. This leaves them navigating the complex legal system alone, without ever having the chance to speak to an attorney about their rights and legal options. The Night Clinic at St. Andrew Legal Clinic plays a crucial role in providing a beacon of hope for those in need, empowering them to make informed decisions and advocate for their rights.

Our Response to the Pandemic: During the challenging times of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Night Clinic was temporarily put on hold to ensure the safety and well-being of our community. Now, we are more determined than ever to re-launch this critical initiative and continue supporting those who need us the most.

Calling for Volunteers: To make the Night Clinic a success, we need your support! We are calling upon passionate and committed individuals to volunteer their time and expertise for this essential service. Whether you are a seasoned family law attorney or an empathetic receptionist, your presence will play a pivotal role in empowering individuals with the legal knowledge and guidance that can genuinely change lives.

Volunteering Opportunities:

  • Family Law Attorneys: Your expertise is invaluable to the Night Clinic's success. Your guidance can make a significant difference in someone's life.

  • Attorneys from Other Specialties: Comprehensive training will be provided, so if you're not a family law attorney but want to help, we welcome you to join us!

  • Volunteer Receptionists: You don't need to be an attorney to make a difference. As a receptionist, your support is equally essential to our operations.

Quick Facts about Night Clinic Volunteering:

  • Volunteers do not have to be family law attorneys.

  • All volunteers receive comprehensive training.

  • A Staff Attorney is always on-site to address any inquiries that may arise.

  • Performing consultations at Night Clinic does not establish an ongoing attorney-client relationship.

How to Volunteer: Are you ready to be part of this transformative initiative? We welcome all volunteers to participate! Join us at our Portland office every Wednesday evening to make a lasting impact on someone's life. A complimentary meal is provided before consultations begin, and volunteers usually eat together from 6:00-6:30 pm. Each consultation is approximately 30 minutes long, with the last session concluding at 8:30 pm.

Be a Beacon of Hope: By volunteering at the Night Clinic, your presence and expertise can make an immeasurable difference in someone's life. It is through the collective efforts of dedicated volunteers like you that we can continue the legacy of compassion, community support, and equal access to justice that defines St. Andrew Legal Clinic.
