SALC Pulse: August 2023 News

Hello,

We're thrilled to report a series of highly productive months at St. Andrew Legal Clinic. The highlight has undoubtedly been the successful re-launch of our in-person Night Clinic program in early August. Since its revival, we've had the privilege of assisting 30 individuals with legal advice through Night Clinic. Additionally, we're delighted to welcome back numerous dedicated volunteer attorneys and receptionists who have been instrumental in our endeavors. Looking forward, we are on track to support nearly 300 clients by the end of the year.

Central to the effectiveness of Night Clinic are our invaluable volunteers. We're continually seeking new additions to our roster of attorneys and receptionists. We warmly extend an invitation for you to become a part of this essential community resource. Your participation would enable us to offer immediate legal guidance on family law matters every Wednesday evening. If you're interested in volunteering for Night Clinic, please sign up using the link provided in this newsletter.

As the summer draws to a close, our focus at St. Andrew Legal Clinic shifts to the forthcoming year-end plans. We're excited to unveil a range of projects and developments within our organization.

Mark your calendars for October 20, 2023, when we will proudly host our 18th annual Taste for Justice auction. This signature event is our pinnacle fundraiser, a gathering that brings together our most dedicated supporters. The occasion features exceptional wines, delectable cuisine, and an opportunity to commemorate the impactful work of St. Andrew Legal Clinic. This year, the Taste for Justice will be held at the Exchange Ballroom, affording us the space to accommodate even more attendees. Our plans include expanding our renowned wine wall collection and curating enticing travel and wine experiences for the auction.

Every contribution, no matter how modest, holds immense significance. Whether you choose to contribute directly, secure a ticket for the event, or advocate for donations from your affiliated wineries, your involvement as part of our nonprofit law firm community is invaluable. Your support directly influences our organization's success. If you have questions or innovative suggestions on how you can contribute to the Taste for Justice, please don't hesitate to reach out via email.

We're equally excited to announce that St. Andrew Legal Clinic has been selected to participate in Willamette Week’s Give!Guide, a prominent avenue for year-end philanthropy in Portland. Launching on November 1 and closing on December 31, this campaign provides us with a unique opportunity to connect with new donors and raise awareness about our commitment to justice accessibility. As one of the few legal nonprofit's involved, our aim is to expand our outreach and inform the broader community about our mission. Keep an eye out for forthcoming announcements concerning our involvement in the Give!Guide campaign.

Your engagement, suggestions, and continued support are the cornerstones of our progress. We're grateful for your partnership as we navigate these exciting developments.

Warmly,

Maxine Tuan

Executive Director
